Dermalux LED Wavelengths
Red Light
633 nanometres is the chosen Red LED light wavelength used in all standard Dermalux™ systems as it is beneficial for all skin types and has an anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. It has the ability to increase the body’s natural form of cellular energy (ATP) which in turn stimulates collagen synthesis and growth factor production, accelerating rejuvenation and repair.
Red light increases natural hydration levels and moisture retention in the skin and has an immediate calming effect reducing redness and inflammation. It effectively shrinks pores, regulates oil production and improves circulation. Red light is also medically approved treatment for rosacea.
With Red light, visible results are immediate, after just one session the skin will clearer, hydrated and plump with a healthy radiance.
Ø Stimulates collagen synthesis and growth factor production
Ø Increases hydration levels and moisture retention
Ø Evens skin tone and texture
Ø Reduces pigmentation
Ø Calms redness & inflammation
Ø Shrinks pores and sebaceous glands
Ø Stimulates circulation & lymphatic system
Ø Accelerates skin repair
Blue Light
415 nanometres is the chosen Blue LED light wavelength used in all standard Dermalux™ systems as it has very powerful antibacterial properties for the treatment acne and problem skin without irritation. Exposure to blue light destroys the P. acnes bacteria and is an effective alternative for clients who do not respond to other acne treatments or antibiotic therapy, especially for darker and teenage skin. It is also excellent in the prevention of future breakouts and bacterial skin infection.
UV-free phototherapy has been used for decades in the management of common skin disorders including eczema and psoriasis. Essentially visible blue light provides all the antibacterial benefits associated with sunlight but without the harmful and damaging rays
Ø Powerful anti-bacterial treatment
Ø Treats all grades of acne without irritation
Ø Reduces oil production
Ø Prevents future breakouts
Ø UV free alternative for eczema and psoriasis
Ø Anti-inflammatory / cooling effect
Near Infra-Red Light
830 nanometres is the chosen Infra-Red LED light wavelength used in all standard Dermalux™ systems as it is the most deeply absorbed wavelength by skin tissue and works synergistically with red light to achieve optimum rejuvenation and repair for ‘advanced anti-ageing’, pigmentation, deep tissue healing and scar reduction and prevention. It also helps to increases cell permeability and absorption and boost immune system activity.
Near Infra-Red light primarily stimulates all the intercellular processes in skin that Red light does however as it penetrates deeper into the dermis, it offers greater improvement for smoothing lines and wrinkles and increasing the elasticity and tone of the skin.
The deep reaching benefits of Near Infra-Red light also make it effective in the treatment of muscular and joint pain and inflammation.
Ø Most deeply absorbed wavelength by skin tissue
Ø ‘Advanced’ anti-ageing
Ø Increases cell permeability and absorption
Ø Reduces pain and inflammation
Ø Supresses melanin synthesis
Ø Scar reduction and prevention
Ø Accelerates wound healing
Ø Heals cystic acne
Concurrent Modality Treatments (CMT)
Understanding the benefits of each colour wavelength and how they can work synergistically together will help to explain how Concurrent Modality Treatments (CMT) or multi-wavelength LED treatments can offer enhanced and accelerated results over a single wavelength treatment.
With combination treatments, the selected wavelengths will be absorbed at different depths, targeting different chromophores in the skin to treat multiple concerns in one session.
For Example: visible blue light has a superficial penetration which is effective in the treatment of bacteria. However, bacterial infection is often only part of the problem associated with acne and blemishes. Red light reduces redness and inflammation and penetrates deeper into the pores to effectively shrink the sebaceous glands and reduce sebum production. Red light also stimulates production of collagen to help prevent against scarring and rehydrates and rebalances the affected area.
The anti-bacterial action of blue light in combination with red light is excellent a post treatment procedure to prevent infection and speed up healing after more invasive skin treatment such as skin peels, laser and skin needling.
Ø Targets multiple concerns in one session
Ø Rapid and enhanced results
Ø Enables bespoke treatment programme
Ø Excellent post procedure treatment to prevent infection and accelerate healing
